Great Response to Environmentally-Friendly City

Environmentally-Friendly City: The layout of a pedestrian- and bicyclist- friendly city elicits a great response in the general population. 76% are of the opinion that more space should be made available for bicycle traffic, 81% would like more space for pedestrians.

Pollution: Measures designed to decrease dust pollution are also widely accepted: 79% are in favor of such measures, even if one consequence thereof is that streets will be temporarily closed to cars and trucks. The idea of downtown toll roads is met with opposition: 41% are “totally against” and 29% are “somewhat against” it.

Public Transportation: In the eyes of German citizens, punctuality, safety at stops and in vehicles, as well as a unified and clearly laid-out pricing system are the most important criteria of an efficient public transportation system.
