Quality of Life

In the context of the discussion about a sustainable development of our society, the quality of life is frequently mentioned. But what does “quality of life” really mean for German citizens? We asked through the means of an open-ended question- that is without supplying possible answers- about the requirements for personal quality of life. It appears that income and prosperity are at the top of the list. Health comes in second place and work/career and family/children tie for third.

The request to compare the personal quality of life of today with that from ten years ago reveals a mixed picture. 40% of those asked said that their personal quality of life has improved. Almost a quarter of those asked reported that it had worsened, while a good third didn’t see any noticeable differences.
